Sunday Market: Onions and Mushrooms

I headed out to the Sunday market shortly before 1 pm, when the vendors start preparing to go home. I walked the length of the market before deciding on one place selling onions by the plateful and also white button mushrooms.

One plate of onions was going for 1,00 EUR but the vendor said that he'd give me two plates for 1,50 EUR. Fine, I said, and came back at him saying, actually, I'd like you to throw in a plate of mushrooms going for 1,80 EUR and give me everything for 3,00 EUR. Without missing a beat, he smiled and said, all right, 3 EUR, adding "you're a real tough customer."

That was all I bought but I sauteed the mushrooms tonight and ate them with some cheese ravioli (ravioli aux quatre fromages from Carrefour). Tomorrow, back at school, I'll be eating a full meal for lunch (my highlight of the day).

That looks absolutely delicious. Of course, the fact that I haven't eaten all day doesn't help.

That's the one thing I love about France. It is so easy to get fresh food every day.
